Binge eating disorder and bulimia (recovery support) coaching

Bulimia and binge eating disorder are much more than just sometimes losing control of a meal.

These can be diagnosed as eating disorders and can have a serious impact on your quality of life if you don’t get help.

I will now explain the differences between the two and the criteria used for their diagnosis.

Bulimia nervosa

With bulimia, you may regularly experience episodes of out-of-control binge eating, followed by rapid, heavy food consumption, but then try to compensate for these episodes, for example by vomiting yourself, taking laxatives, or exercising excessively.

Criteria required for diagnosis:

1. Repetitive binge eating: You consume large amounts of food in a short period of time and feel like you’ve completely lost control over your eating.

2. Compensatory behaviors: These can include inducing vomiting, laxative use, extreme exercise to “make amends” to overeating.

3. Weekly frequency: These episodes occur on average at least once a week for three months.

4. Self-esteem problem: Much of your self-confidence is built around your weight and shape, and you often feel the need to compensate for that.

Binge Eating Disorder

Episodes of out-of-control binge eating are also common in binge eating disorder, but compensatory behavior is not present here, which is why it differs from bulimia.

Criteria required for diagnosis:

1. Binge episodes: During these you eat large amounts of food in a short period of time, feeling out of control.

2. Shame and guilt: You often feel mentally bad, ashamed, or depressed afterwards because of the episode.

3. Unpleasant eating habits: These episodes occur regularly and you often eat alone or feeling uncomfortable or ashamed.

4. Weekly frequency: Binge eating episodes repeat at least once a week for three months.

But what if you don’t hit the diagnostic criteria or don’t have an official diagnosis?

If the problem related to eating or body image occupies a significant place in your life, you should definitely ask for help!

Regardless of whether you haven’t been diagnosed yet or don’t meet the criteria, of course eating and body image can be a problem.

You also deserve a happy life, ask for help as soon as possible!

With both disorders, the most important thing is to recognize that you are not alone in your problem.

It is important that an accurate diagnosis can only be given by a psychiatrist or specialist psychologist, however, help is needed even in the absence of a diagnosis.

How long does the program last?

The duration of the program is a minimum of 3 months. The exact Duration will be determined jointly at the first consultation. The duration of the Program depends on the goal we want to achieve and the intensity of our joint work.

Every morning, I'd step on the scale, and if it went up by even 200 grams, my mood would be ruined for the entire day. If it was 100 grams less, I felt like I was finally on the right track. I got tired of this emotional rollercoaster and knew I needed a solution. I tried fasting, but soon found myself struggling with binge eating episodes more and more. I was desperate to lose weight, but instead, I kept gaining.
Then I met Anna through a referral, and after working with her for a year, I can confidently say that it was the best decision I could have made. Thanks to her guidance, I’ve overcome binge eating and already lost 15 kilos.

Why choose me as your bulimia and binge eating disorder coach?

I understand what it feels like to be trapped in a cycle of obsession with food, weight, and appearance. For years, my life revolved around dieting and the relentless pursuit of looking better. I believed that if I could just lose weight and look a certain way, everything else would fall into place. But that mindset became the root of my eating disorder.

My struggle with bulimia consumed me. I would binge on 10,000 to 15,000 calories in a single episode, followed by crushing guilt and shame. At 120 kilos, I felt stuck—physically, emotionally, and mentally. Despite all my knowledge about nutrition and years of experience as a coach, I couldn’t break free.

I knew exactly what to eat, when to eat, and how much. But none of it mattered because I was trapped in an endless cycle of restriction, bingeing, and self-punishment. I felt like a failure.

It took years of hard work and collaboration with experts to untangle the beliefs and habits that kept me stuck. I had to learn how to truly listen to my body, let go of the constant pressure to lose weight, and start focusing on my well-being instead of my appearance.

Now, having overcome bulimia and emotional eating, I’ve shed over 30 kilos—not through starvation or grueling diets, but by creating a healthier relationship with food and myself. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

I know the pain, the frustration, and the hopelessness you might feel because I’ve been there too. That’s why I’m here—to walk alongside you on your journey to healing. Together, we’ll focus on building a life that’s not controlled by food or weight, where you can find peace with your body and start living fully again.

What will life look like after the program?

Healing transforms your life in ways that go beyond what you might imagine. Here’s what you can expect, with examples to bring these changes to life:

  1. Freedom from food anxiety
Imagine sitting at a family dinner, savoring your favorite lasagna without overthinking every bite. No guilt, no stress—just enjoying the moment.
  2. Better health
Picture yourself climbing stairs without feeling winded, waking up refreshed, or finally fitting into those jeans you love. You’ll reduce the risk of health issues like heart problems, diabetes, and digestive issues, and feel more vibrant overall.
  3. Boosted self-esteem
How would it feel to look in the mirror and smile, not because you’ve reached a certain weight, but because you appreciate your body for what it is? That’s the confidence and self-love you’ll cultivate.
  4. Emotional balance
No more mood swings tied to what or how much you’ve eaten. Instead, you’ll feel calmer, more centered, and able to enjoy the little joys of daily life, like laughing at a friend’s joke or tackling a project with energy.
  5. Stronger relationships
Imagine having more energy and patience to spend quality time with loved ones, whether it’s a heart-to-heart chat with a friend or a spontaneous movie night with your partner. Your relationships will flourish without food struggles clouding your mind.
  6. No more compulsive control
Picture yourself going out to brunch with friends and ordering what you genuinely want—without obsessively planning your day’s meals or worrying about the calories.
  7. More energy for what matters
Think of all the mental energy you’ll free up. Instead of agonizing over what you ate yesterday or worrying about tomorrow, you’ll finally have the headspace to focus on things you love—whether that’s painting, starting a side hustle, or simply spending more time outdoors.
  8. Physical and mental vitality
Good nutrition means more energy to tackle the day. Imagine running around with your kids or smashing a workout without feeling drained, or simply waking up without hitting snooze five times.
  9. A positive body image
You’ll learn to see your body not as a project to perfect, but as an ally. Picture looking in the mirror and thinking, I look great—and genuinely believing it.
  10. A freer, happier life
No more constant pressure, no more food obsession. Imagine traveling to new places, trying new cuisines, or spontaneously saying yes to a dinner invitation—all without overthinking. Life will feel lighter, more joyful, and full of possibilities.

By the end of this program, you won’t just have tools—you’ll have a transformed mindset, a healthier body, and the ability to enjoy life without food or weight dominating your thoughts. This is more than a change; it’s the freedom you deserve.
